I am the Director of Communications for the Alumni Council of Sigma Delta Phi Fraternity. I am a member of the Otterbein Class of 2008 and I graudated with a BA in Broadcasting and minors in History and Speech Communication.
A HUGE congratulations to the Men of Sigma Delta Phi for achieving Chapter of the Year for an impressive 3rd year in a row. The chapter also achieved New Member Education of the Year. A special congrats to the current President, Todd Thomas, for winning IFC Greek of the Year and to Alex Kusko for winning IFC New Member of the Year.
With the end of the year winding down, the guys have switched their time to studying and wishing the Seniors a fond farewell. Stay tuned for more updates to wrap up the 2008-09 school year.

My apologies to everyone for not keeping the updates coming as freely as before. But we’ve got two major updates this week and here’s the first!
Congratulations to the Active Chapter on successfully winning Greek Week this year! The guys got first place in Harmony Night, LipSync, Banner, and Tug-o-War. With an amassed 38 points the guys blew past the competition with the 2nd place chapter getting 27 points.
In other Chapter news, the guys recently participated in the Relay for Life here at Otterbein and managed to have at least one person on the track for the whole 24 hours.

It’s the beginning of week 3 of pledging and sadly one more couldn’t quite muster it and dropped. But those that remain are holding out and proving to be forming a strong bond. This week includes many more fun and exciting activities.

The first week of pledging has come to an end and sadly the guys have lost 2 pledges but are still up 16 guys. Week one went off without any major problems and the pledges enjoyed their first mixer with the ladies of EKT. This week they participate in more fun and harder work to prove they get to join our amazing fraternity.
I’ve managed to get a picture of the 16 guys and as you can see, they all look like we did as freshman. I’ll leave those discriptions up to you.

The Active Chapter picked up an astonishing 18 guys tonight. If these guys can stick through it, that number would almost double the chapter in size. Tonight they will get their actives and pledge duties. I will try to get the guys to throw together a list of the pledges and past that info on to you all.

The brothers of Sigma Delta Phi have extended bids to 21 gentlemen of Otterbein College. The guys in the active chapter hope to pick up a majority of these fine, upstanding young men this Sunday evening.
