Active Chapter Update!

News

  • The active chapter added 10 new members last quarter (pictured below painting “the rock” in front of the campus center).
  • Elections took place last week and the actives have new officers. A few to note are President- Mike Johnson, Vice President- Micah Hudson, and Intrafraternal Relations Chair- Thomas Martin.
  • Actives Mike Johnson (President) and Thomas Martin (intrafraternal relations chair) attended the Alumni Scholarship dinner, which was a great success and earned approximately $1,000 to go towards the first active chapter scholarship!

Upcoming activities

  • The actives are getting ready for another exciting greek week, which takes place May 12.
  • Currently, the active chapter is working on sending care packages to active duty soldiers who are serving overseas.

Sphinx Pledging 2010!

Hey all! Winter quarter has begun and it’s time for another exciting pledging season! As you can see from Scott Willyerd’s previous post, the active chapter is currently the largest frat on campus and has plans to get even bigger! The active chapter hosted it’s infamous “Big Kahuna” rush party on January 16th attracting many prospective sphinxmen from all over campus!

The final dinner was held on January 21st at the  old bag o’ nails pub on state street. The event was attended by 21 prospectives with 2 RSVPing with regrets. The program featured a number of guest speakers including our own Alumni Vice President: Kayne Kirby along with Active Chapter President: Todd Thomas.

The day after, actives met and after much deliberation extended 21 bids which will be sent out on January 27th. That’s all for now! Stay tuned for more pledging info!
